Now Hiring: 2026 Festival Staff
As we enter our twelfth year of operations, The Kick & Push Festival is looking to hire for the following roles to support our summer 2026 season. The 2026 season will take place in July and August in Kingston, Ontario.
I. Festival Production Assistants
This year, Kick & Push is looking to hire a number of Festival Production Assistants that will be involved with both the production and technical elements of the Festival. As an innovative festival that presents work in non-traditional theatre spaces, we’re looking for creative problem solvers who are excited to learn and engage with a multifaceted role as part of a small but mighty team.
Tasks include: Participating in regular festival meetings; front of house duties; acting as a liaison between festival administration, participating artists, production, and location staff before, during, and after the Festival; supporting the Marketing Coordinators and Festival marketing efforts; working with technical theatre professionals; setting, maintaining, and striking streaming as well as a/v equipment; attending production and post-production meetings as required; procuring goods and services from vendors; assisting with load-ins, load-outs, safety measures; collecting, sorting, and archiving digital Festival materials; assisting Festival Leadership as required.
II. Marketing Coordinators
The Marketing Coordinators are an integral part of the K&P team, responsible for marketing Festival events through a variety of public-facing channels in addition to engaging with community outreach efforts to build the K&P audience base and community. We’re looking for creative self-starters who are excited to connect with audiences and artists alike, and who are eager to develop their skills.
Tasks include: Participating in the creation and delivery of a Festival-wide marketing plan, inclusive of TK Fringe activities; advertising and publicity media for K&P; working collaboratively with the productions to assist in the creation of effective marketing plans and media for their shows; collaborating with marketing and branding professionals within the Kingston community on how to best position the K&P brands in relation to existing cultural products; creation of public facing marketing and branding assets; managing, scheduling and positioning K&P social media; tracking and managing relevant statistics and data; community outreach and engagement; collecting, sorting, and archiving digital Festival materials; devising publicity events and happenings; front of house duties as needed.
Job Details
All roles operate in a hybrid manner with a combination of online and in-person duties. While the roles are hybrid, they do require the employee to be in Kingston throughout the entire duration of the contract due to the in-person needs of the Festival.
Rate: $22.20 per hour.
Total Hours: 280.
Dates: Starting mid-late June, dependent on position, through end of August. Evenings and weekends are required as needed, in particular during the Festival dates.
Eligibility
These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Applicants need to be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment period. They must also be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Note: international students are not considered eligible.
