K&P Timeline


  • Summer 2015

    The inaugural Kick & Push Festival is launched in downtown Kingston, running from x-x. A joint initiative by Single Thread Theatre Company, Theatre Kingston, and Blue Canoe Productions.

  • Summer 2016

    The 2nd annual Kick & Push from July x-Aug x.

    The first annual Kingston Festival Fringe, known as the Storefront Fringe Festival, from x-x. Sponsored by K&P as part of the official Festival, in partnership with Theatre Kingston.

  • Summer 2017

    The 3rd annual Kick & Push from July x-Aug x.

    Kick & Push officially shifts from a collectively-run profit-share model, to a professional wage model, now run exclusively by the Kingston Theatre Alliance.

  • Summer 2018

    Official launch of the Cedar Park Indigenous Artists Residency, in partnership with Parks Canada. Also marks the creation of the Indigenous Curator role within the K&P team.

  • Summer 2019

    5th annual K&P from x-x, and the 4th annual Storefront Fringe.

  • Summer 2020

    As a response to the pandemic, K&P launches the general residency program with open applications to all artists.

    The Fringe Festival is cancelled.

  • Summer 2021

    7th annual K&P from x-x, with a limited online offering for Fringe.

  • Summer 2022

    First year of Francophone content presented in partnership with Centre culturel Frontenac, with Cadences.

    The Storefront Fringe Festival officially rebrands to the TK Fringe.

  • Summer 2023

    9th annual K&P from x-x and 7th Fringe Festival.

  • Summer 2024

    The 10th annual Kick & Push Festival, featuring the 8th Festival Fringe.

  • Summer 2025

    The 11th K&P from x-x and 9th annual Fringe from x-x.

    Received a record-breaking amount of applications for the Festival.
